| We are pleased to announce the formation of a new Leadership Team for SIG Africa. From the start of 2022 the following SIG members are the new leadership team: Sandy Barasa ![]() Sandy Barasa was born in Kenya and currently based in the Netherlands where she is an Assistant Professor at Radboud University in Communication & Informational Sciences. Based on both personal and academic experience, she is a specialist researcher, advisor, and expert trainer in the field of intercultural communication, and diversity & inclusion competence. Her vision is to ensure a culturally safe and inclusive environment for everyone in society. Her passion is in the numerous African languages and how they portray their cultures in entertainment e.g. narratives, music, movies and other creative arts. Sandy on LinkedIn Sandy will act as Chair of the Leadership Team Aliou Ndiaye ![]() Aliou Ndiaye is a visual art curator and researcher of African artistic creations in the context of transnational mobility. His last fieldwork research observes the evolutions of contemporary African art in the context of globalization, migrations and cultural diversities around six european countries. He lives and work in Dakar, Sénégal Aliou on LinkedIn Aliou will focus on Francophone Africa (Responsable de l’Afrique Francophonie) Patrick Nkereuwem ![]() Patrick, who has a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) and Master of Arts (MA) in Human Resource Management, is based in London where he runs his own HR Consultancy business specialising in leadership and management skills learning and development for private and public sector organisations. Born in Oti Oro in Akwa Ibom State of Nigeria, Patrick is concerned about the lack of adequate research on the cultures of Africa and is keenly interested in driving work in this area. Patrick on LinkedIn Patrick will help with the collection of information on research. Yobi Bakri ![]() Yobdar (Yobi) is a creative optimist working in intercultural communication and business management in Kenya. She grew up all over Africa and speaks Amharic, German, French and Italian. With a background in hotel management, she lives to bring people together and loves cooking. Yobi on LinkedIn Yobi will lead the organisation of SIG Africa events. To ensure continuity, the former Leadership Team of Anne-Claude Lambelet, Papa Balla Ndong, Inge Baaijens, Sibylle Ganz-Koechlin and Joe Kearns will continue to work closely with the new LT.
