Special Interest Group on Africa – Plans
Resources on website – Initial by end October 2020. Regular updates later
Resources from members such as films, websites, articles and other items of interest about Africa will be available on our website before end of October. We will also create a process whereby members can add to the “library” of resources
Contacts sharing – Initial by end October 2020. Regular updates later
Probably the most important action item for this SIG! All members want to be able to connect with, and work with, other members. We need to overcome data protection issues before we can share data. More communication on this shortly

Local face-to-face meetings – to be planned by members where Covid-Safe
We all long for some face-to-face time. We will look to group people who are located near to each other to allow them to maybe meet for a coffee or more extensive conversations.
Member led online events!
We want members to organise events! Any member that has a topic they want to talk about we will facilitate and help organise it. If the member has their own video-conference tool (Zoom etc) they anc use that otherwise we will provide the platform. Events and be around any topic you like and it can be for a small group to attend or all of the SIG members. Please email to SIG_Africa@sietareu.org if you have ideas
European Face-to-face – Planned for last quarter of 2021
IN the deeply felt hope that life will be somewhat closer to normal by late 2021 we would like to hold a European face-to-face. Format, venue and dates will be decided early in 2021 once we get a better idea of the path of Covid19
African Congress – Between April – October 2022
This is the big one! Many of us have dreamed about an African Congress for some time now. With Covid19 we were initially disappointed that it could not happen in the near future but on reflection aiming for 2022 is a good thing. It will give us time to plan a more ambitions event. We will put a team together in early 2021 to organise the event to include fund raising to subsidise those for whom the event might be beyond their means – particularly young people in Africa.
